Huaneng Power generation falls despite renewable energy surge

Huaneng Power International reported a 2.37% decline in domestic power generation to 205.683 billion kilowatt-hours for the first half of 2025, despite significant renewable energy expansion.

Coal-fired generation fell 7.06% to 158.363 billion kWh, while solar generation surged 49.33% to 12.243 billion kWh and wind power increased 11.39% to 21.031 billion kWh. The average settlement price dropped 2.69% to 485.27 yuan per megawatt-hour.

The company added 7,987.31 megawatts of new capacity, including 2,802.8 MW of solar and 1,024.75 MW of wind power.
