China Eastern Airlines reports strong June growth

China Eastern Airlines reported passenger traffic growth of 9.99% year-on-year in June 2025, outpacing capacity growth of 6.54%. The passenger load factor reached 86.14%, up 2.70 percentage points. Cargo and mail turnover surged 12.74%.

The airline expanded internationally with new routes from Shanghai Pudong to Milan and Geneva, while adding domestic services including Shanghai Hongqiao-Chongqing. The fleet grew by four aircraft to 816 total, including the carrier's first C919 addition.
