Air China reports strong passenger traffic growth in May 2025

Air China announced an 8.4% year-over-year increase in consolidated passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger kilometers) for May 2025. Passenger capacity (available seat kilometers) increased by 4.5% year-over-year. Domestic passenger capacity rose 2.4%, with passenger traffic up 6.0%. International routes showed stronger growth, with capacity increasing by 10.4% and passenger traffic surging by 16.0%. The average passenger load factor reached 81.3%, up 2.9 percentage points. In cargo operations, cargo capacity (available freight tonne kilometers) increased by 2.2% year-over-year, while cargo and mail traffic (measured by revenue freight tonne kilometers) rose 6.2%, resulting in a cargo load factor of 41.5%. During the month, Air China introduced one C919 aircraft and one A320 series aircraft, bringing its total fleet to 936 aircraft as of May 31, 2025. The airline also launched a new Beijing Capital-Toronto route with two weekly flights starting May 20, 2025.
