Wantai Bio's HIV self-test kit gains WHO approval

Beijing Wantai Biological Pharmacy Enterprise (SSE:603392) announced that its HIV urine self-test kit, "HIV SELF TEST BY URINE – Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Type-I Urine Antibody Diagnostic Kit (Colloidal Gold)," has passed the World Health Organization (WHO) prequalification (PQ) assessment. This marks the third HIV testing product from Wantai Bio to receive WHO PQ certification and is the first urine-based HIV self-test kit globally to achieve this recognition. The certification allows the company to participate in centralized procurement projects by the United Nations and other global multilateral organizations, expanding its reach to low- and middle-income countries. The company stated that this certification is expected to positively impact the company's international market competitiveness and contribute to the global effort to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030. However, the company also cautioned that the sales of the product overseas might be impacted by geopolitical situation and changes in local policies and regulations, as well as exchange rate fluctuations, advising investors to exercise caution and be aware of investment risks.
