China Unicom reports 6.5% profit rise, expands 5G, cloud

China Unicom (SSE:600050) reported a strong start to 2025, with operating revenue rising 3.9% year-over-year to CNY103.35 billion, according to its first-quarter report. Net profit attributable to equity shareholders increased 6.5% to CNY2.60 billion. Basic earnings per share rose to CNY0.083, up from CNY0.078. As of the end of the quarter, the company’s total assets reached CNY667.65 billion. In a separate announcement on operations data, China Unicom noted its total connected users reached 118.18 million, including 20.38 million 5G users and 66.32 million IoT connections. The company is also expanding 5G applications, with 17,941 enterprise clients.
