China Shenhua's February coal sales dip, power generation up

China Shenhua Energy (SSE:601088) reported a decrease in coal sales for February 2025, with sales volumes dropping 11.4% year-on-year to 34.3 million tons, and 16.3% year-on-year to 64.7 million tons YTD. Coal production saw a modest increase of 1.9% to 27.0 million tons. The company's power generation increased by 6.2% to 16.03 billion kWh, and electricity sales increased by 6.6% to 15.11 billion kWh. Railway transportation volume rose 5.3% to 25.7 billion ton-kilometers. Port throughput at Huanghua Port decreased 10.7% to 15.1 million tons due to weak demand and weather conditions. The company noted that the inclusion of data from acquired Hangjin Energy is reflected in the February figures, with previous periods restated for comparison.
