Haitong Securities chairman Zhou Jie resigns amid merger

Haitong Securities (SSE: 600837) announced that Chairman Zhou Jie has resigned due to a work transfer, effective January 13, 2025. He also relinquished his roles as director, legal representative, and Hong Kong Stock Exchange authorized representative. Zhou joined Haitong in July 2016 and became Chairman in October of the same year. His tenure saw a successful 20 billion yuan fundraising, strategic focus on new growth areas, and advancement of the firm's "12345 strategy" integrating investment, financing, insurance, research, and wealth management. The board expressed gratitude for Zhou's contributions, particularly his leadership in the ongoing merger with Guotai Junan Securities. The merger process will continue as planned, aiming to create a leading investment bank with international competitiveness.
