Ocean Installer lands sizeable EPCI contract from Equinor for Mikkel field

Moreld announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Ocean Installer AS, has received a letter of award for a sizeable EPCI contract from Equinor. This brownfield work at the Mikkel field is scheduled for offshore operations in 2027 and has an expected value between NOK 100 million and NOK 500 million.

The scope of work includes detail design of rock foundation carpets, spool fabrication, and the installation of a Flow Condition Unit (FCU) and spools. New spools will be fabricated using surplus material from previous projects to reduce costs, minimize environmental footprint, and accelerate lead time. This life extension project will enable production at a lower minimum flow rate at the Mikkel field, an existing tie-back to the Åsgård subsea compression system.

The FCU’s function is to dampen and accumulate liquid surges in the gas flow, dosing liquid back at a stable rate consistent with the Åsgard compression station’s capacity. Ocean Installer CEO Kevin Murphy highlighted the company's continued success in securing brownfield projects, anticipating their growing importance in the North Sea as clients focus on enhancing production from existing facilities.
