Fjord Defence secures US DoW approval for new tripod, draws NATO interest

Fjord Defence Group ASA, through its subsidiary Fjord Defence AS, announced on December 15, 2025, that it has secured U.S. Department of War (DoW) approval for a new lightweight tripod with a weapon mount. This development project, executed within planned timelines and budget, involved the OASD SO/LIC Secretariat for Special Operations (SSO)/Capability Development & Innovation (CD&I). An initial order has already been delivered.

The total contract value, including all options, stands at NOK 5.6 million. Of this, NOK 4.46 million has been ordered, encompassing the base order and half of the available options. The company noted significant interest, with several NATO member countries having placed orders or engaged in active dialogue for operational testing systems throughout 2026.

Chief executive Jon Asbjørn Bø highlighted strong interest from both the U.S. and other NATO allies, citing unanimously positive user feedback. Fjord Defence expects broader field testing across multiple nations in 2026, anticipating a significant number of additional orders during the year.
