Yara and Air Products partner on global low-emission ammonia projects

Yara International ASA and Air Products are in advanced negotiations to partner on low-emission ammonia projects in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, leveraging Air Products' hydrogen production expertise and Yara's extensive ammonia network.

For the Louisiana Clean Energy Complex, Yara would acquire ammonia production, storage, and shipping facilities for approximately 25% of the estimated $8-9 bn total project cost. Yara would then integrate 2.8m tonnes per year of low-carbon ammonia into its global distribution, supplied by Air Products under a 25-year offtake agreement. Final investment decisions are targeted by mid-2026, with completion expected by 2030.

Regarding the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project in Saudi Arabia, Air Products is the sole offtaker of up to 1.2m tonnes per year of renewable ammonia. Yara and Air Products anticipate a marketing and distribution agreement by the first half of 2026, where Yara will commercialize the ammonia not sold by Air Products as renewable hydrogen in Europe on a commission basis. This project is over 90% complete and expected to start commercial production in 2027.
