Magnora-Blix joint venture expands Nordic data center capacity

Magnora ASA and Blix Solutions have completed the acquisition of an 80% stake in Norwegian data center operator Storespeed AS, with the transaction closing on October 6th, 2025. This strategic move aims to expand data center capacity and improve services, particularly in the Nordics, a region experiencing rapid growth driven by low electricity prices and ideal cooling conditions.

Erling Magnus Solheim has been appointed managing director of Storespeed, tasked with planning asset-light capacity expansion, introducing full redundancy through multi-location collaboration with Blix Solutions in Oslo, and attracting new customers. Storespeed is also seeking additional grid capacity for its Halden facility, which has the potential for a 5 MW data center located 1.5 hours from Oslo.

Magnora chief executive Erik Sneve highlighted that the combined development capabilities of Magnora, Storespeed, and Blix Solutions create an "excellent platform for growth." Storespeed chief executive Erling Magnus Solheim emphasized the Halden data center's strong track record and its potential to attract customers seeking various solutions, including colocation, AI, and sovereign cloud, as the company prepares for larger projects and capacity expansion.
