Veidekke wins major contract for psychiatric hospital building at Nye Aker

Veidekke ASA has secured the contract for the new psychiatric building (PHA Sør) at Nye Aker Hospital in Oslo, signing the interaction phase contract with Helse Sør-Øst RHF. This "billion-kroner project" will see immediate further development, aiming for a final construction contract in about one year. Erik Økland, director of Veidekke Bygg Oslo, expressed gratitude for the trust, highlighting the company's extensive experience in large hospital projects.

The PHA Sør building, the largest of three mental health and addiction facilities at Nye Aker, will span 27,000 square meters. It will include an acute psychiatric emergency department, 164 inpatient beds, outpatient treatment rooms, offices, meeting rooms, and research areas. The project also features activity spaces such as a gymnasium, outdoor areas, roof gardens, atriums, and a park.

Planned construction is set for summer 2027, with completion anticipated in autumn 2030. The contract value will be added to Veidekke's order reserve upon the start of construction. Veidekke, one of Scandinavia's largest contractors, reported approximately NOK 41 bn in revenue and has been consistently profitable since 1936.
