BW Energy's Kudu well shows encouraging hydrocarbon indications

BW Energy reports encouraging preliminary results from its Kharas-1 appraisal well on the Kudu license, which reached total depth and drilled multiple formations. The well provided valuable geological data, with several intervals showing indications of hydrocarbon presence and reservoir potential, suggesting a working petroleum system at Kharas. Early analysis indicates the K1 interval may contain hydrocarbons wetter than dry gas, and a hydrocarbon migration front has been observed.

Wireline operations are currently underway to assess reservoir quality, fluid type, and pressure characteristics. These results will guide decisions for a follow-up appraisal campaign, which will be required to evaluate individual targets in greater detail and determine the next well location and future appraisal strategy.

BW Energy's total net 2P+2C reserves and resources were 599 million barrels of oil equivalent at the start of 2025. The company operates the Kudu field in Namibia, holding a 95% interest.
