AF Gruppen subsidiary secures Swedish defense contract worth MSEK 112

HMB Construction, a subsidiary of AF Gruppen, has secured a contract from the Swedish Fortifications Agency to undertake a construction project at Ärna F16 in Uppsala. The contract is valued at approximately MSEK 112, excluding VAT.

The project involves constructing two shelters, a heated warehouse, a smaller cold storage facility, and a new transformer station. This turnkey contract demands high standards for design, technical documentation, and construction within a security-classified area. The project presents specific engineering challenges, requiring careful consideration of ground conditions, including foundation work on clay and proximity to a river. This necessitates piling with concrete piles.

Bård Frydenlund, executive vice president of AF Gruppen Sverige, highlighted the technical complexity and expressed satisfaction that HMB has been entrusted to deliver a solution meeting the high requirements. Project design is scheduled to commence in autumn 2025, with construction slated to begin in the fourth quarter of the same year. The estimated construction period is approximately one year, targeting completion in December 2026.
