Mutares' Magirus acquires Achleitner, expands defense portfolio

Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, through its wholly-owned portfolio company Magirus, announced the acquisition of Achleitner Fahrzeugbau GmbH. The Austrian firm specializes in customized offroad, police, military, and paramilitary vehicles. This strategic addition is expected to close in Q4 2025 and will strengthen Magirus's Infrastructure & Special Industry segment.

Achleitner, founded in 1932, is known for tailor-made vehicle bodies, conversions, and advanced all-wheel-drive technology, including armored vehicles. The acquisition allows Magirus to broaden its range of mission-critical vehicles, leveraging cross-selling opportunities and accelerating international market penetration.

Johannes Laumann, cio of Mutares, highlighted that this acquisition, similar to the Steyr Motors deal, represents another key addition to Mutares' defense portfolio. It reinforces its commitment to homeland security and territorial defense while enhancing its presence in the specialized vehicle market.
