Andfjord Salmon kicks off major production scale-up with smolt release

Andfjord Salmon successfully completed a smolt release at its Kvalnes facility on September 30, 2025, marking the beginning of a significant scale-up of fish farming operations. Approximately 350,000 smolt, weighing around 180 grams each, were released into pool K0, adapting quickly to stable biological conditions.

The company plans to release an additional 750,000 smolt into pool K1 in late October 2025. This, combined with the recent release, represents the launch of substantially expanded salmon farming activities at the site. chief executive Martin Rasmussen highlighted the team's meticulous planning and the biological benefits of their proprietary flow-through system.

Since its last production cycle concluded in June 2023, Andfjord Salmon has focused on developing new pools, a harbor area, and waterways designed to support large-scale production. The facility infrastructure at Kvalnes is engineered to facilitate a future production capacity of approximately 48,100 tonnes (HOG + post-smolt).
