AF Gruppen wins major North Sea decommissioning contract from bp

AF Gruppen, through its subsidiary AF Offshore Decom and a joint venture with THREE60 Energy, has secured a significant contract with bp for integrated decommissioning services for the Andrew field in the North Sea. This is the first contract of its kind on the UK Continental Shelf, positioning the joint venture as a partner for the entire decommissioning lifecycle. This encompasses post-production operations, well plugging, facility preparation, infrastructure recovery, and collaboration with removal contractors.

The Andrew field is located 225 km northeast of Aberdeen. The project covers a steel platform with an 11,100-ton topside and a 7,600-ton jacket. It also includes 17 platform wells, 8 subsea wells, 41 km of pipelines, 42 km of cables, and 2,500 tons of subsea equipment.

Under a framework agreement, the estimated contract value is up to MNOK 4,000, excluding VAT. AF Gruppen’s share is expected to be approximately 30%. MNOK 250 is included in AF Offshore Decom's order book. The project commences immediately and is anticipated to be completed between 2031 and 2032.
