TGS expands Gulf of America OBN coverage with new survey
TGS announced the commencement of its Amendment West-1 Ultra-Long Offset OBN survey in the Gulf of America, adding over 5,400 square kilometers within the East Breaks protraction area. This marks TGS' second campaign expanding multi-client node coverage in the Paleogene West play. The survey utilizes TGS' Gemini™ enhanced frequency source and ZXPLRe™ nodes, designed to improve subsurface clarity in an area projected to be highly competitive in upcoming lease rounds.
The Amendment West-1 dataset, to be processed by TGS' imaging experts, will leverage Elastic Full-Waveform Inversion (E-FWI) and Reverse Time Migration (RTM) imaging technologies, integrating TGS' Crystal C wide azimuth streamer data. Node deployment began in mid-September 2025, with data acquisition expected to complete by mid-March 2026. Initial product delivery is scheduled for Q2 2026.
Notably, the project is supported by industry funding. Chief executive Kristian Johansen highlighted the survey's role in facilitating Paleogene exploration targets and TGS' advanced imaging capabilities.
