Diana Shipping secures new charter for DSI Aquila at higher rate

Diana Shipping Inc. has entered into a time charter contract with Bunge SA, Geneva, for its Ultramax dry bulk vessel, the m/v DSI Aquila, at a gross charter rate of $14,500 per day, minus a 5.00% commission. This new charter is set to run from a minimum of February 25, 2027, to a maximum of April 25, 2027, with commencement expected on October 12, 2025. The 60,309 dwt vessel, built in 2015, was previously chartered to Western Bulk Carriers AS at a lower gross rate of $12,250 per day.

The new employment for the DSI Aquila is projected to generate approximately $7.15m in gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period. Diana Shipping Inc.'s fleet comprises 36 dry bulk vessels, including 9 Ultramax vessels. The company also anticipates taking delivery of two methanol dual-fuel new-building Kamsarmax vessels by the first half of 2028.
