Capsol technologies wins first carbon capture study for european metal plant

Capsol Technologies announced on September 17, 2025, it has been awarded an engineering study to evaluate its CapsolEoP® carbon capture technology at a European metal production plant. This marks Capsol’s first project in the metal production sector, broadening its addressable market into another hard-to-abate, carbon-intensive industry with the potential to capture several hundred thousand tonnes of CO2 annually.

Metal production globally accounts for nearly 10% of total CO2 emissions. CapsolEoP® is highlighted for its suitability in this sector, offering large-scale CO2 capture with low energy consumption and without requiring external steam, differentiating it from amine-based technologies.

The company's chief technology officer, Cato Christiansen, noted that this study, alongside recent awards in refinery and lime industries, demonstrates the technology's appeal across various challenging sectors, building on its existing portfolio in bio-CCS, cement, and gas turbines.
