Veidekke wins NOK 315m contract for Gothenburg life science renovation

Veidekke has been commissioned by Akademiska Hus for a full renovation of the Zoologen building in Gothenburg. This design and build contract has an estimated total cost of approximately NOK 315 million. The project will transform the 1960s building into modern laboratory and office spaces, ranging from 100 m² to 850 m², complete with laboratory infrastructure, a lunch café, meeting rooms, and a gym. Occupancy is expected to begin in fall 2026.

The project emphasizes sustainability, with materials from the old building already being reused by local schools and kindergartens. Located at Medicinareberget, adjacent to Gothenburg University and Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Zoologen will contribute to a burgeoning life science cluster.

The first stage of the project, valued at NOK 112 million, was included in Veidekke's Q2 2025 order book. An additional NOK 200 million will be added as new orders in the Q3 2025 order book.
