Capsol Technologies wins European BECCS engineering study

Capsol Technologies has been selected to deliver a feasibility study for an undisclosed client to evaluate its CapsolEoP® technology at a European biomass-fired combined heat-and-power plant. The study focuses on a bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) configuration designed to remove over 200,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. This enables the facility to achieve net negative emissions.

The announcement highlights significant market tailwinds, with 15.48m tonnes of durable carbon dioxide removal (CDR) contracted in Q2 2025, exceeding all prior quarters combined. Capsol Technologies has a mature pipeline of over 22.6m tonnes of annual CO2 capture capacity, with more than 5m tonnes from biomass and energy-from-waste. The company's technology is already licensed for three bio-CCS projects, including Stockholm Exergi's 800,000 tonne-per-year BECCS plant that reached final investment decision (FID) in March 2025.

Capsol anticipates multiple high-conviction projects with potential FIDs in 2026. Based on target revenues of €10-15 per tonne, one fully priced FID could generate positive EBITDA for three years.
