Hexagon Agility secures $4.2m in natural gas fuel system orders

Hexagon Agility, a subsidiary of Hexagon Composites ASA, has received new orders totaling $4.2 million for natural gas fuel systems. These orders are for installations in heavy-duty trucks powered by Cummins' X15N natural gas engine, targeting the North American market. Over 10 leading Class 8 fleets across the United States and Canada, spanning logistics, food & beverage, oil & gas, and construction industries, contributed to this latest batch of orders.

The company's chief commercial officer, Eric Bippus, noted broad uptake despite a challenging freight environment. This is driven by the new 15L engine's diesel-like performance and the immediate fuel cost savings and emissions reductions offered by natural gas and renewable natural gas (RNG). The North American heavy-duty truck market sees approximately 300,000 annual sales. The introduction of the Cummins X15N engine has expanded the addressable market for natural gas solutions by 200,000 trucks annually, from a previous 100,000, now catering to all operational, haul, and load requirements.

The 15L engine boasts power ratings up to 500 hp and torque up to 1850 lb.-ft, offering a range of up to 1,200 miles, comparable to diesel capabilities. This expansion is supported by a robust network of over 1,600 public and private CNG/RNG fueling stations across North America’s key transport corridors.
