BW Energy contracts rig for Namibian appraisal well

BW Energy announced contracting the Deepsea Mira semi-submersible rig for the Kharas appraisal well on Namibia's Kudu licence. Drilling is scheduled for the second half of 2025 in the Orange Basin.

The agreement is part of a rig-sharing arrangement with Northern Ocean and Rhino Resources. BW Energy operates the Kudu licence with a 95% working interest, while NAMCOR E&P holds 5%.

BW Energy's total net 2P+2C reserves and resources stood at 599 million barrels of oil equivalent at the start of 2025.
