Vector reports mixed Q3 performance as gas connections plummet

Vector's electricity network saw an increase in connections, reaching 634,269, up 1.2% year-on-year. Electricity volume distributed also rose by 1.3% to 2,460 GWh, attributed to cooler temperatures. However, new electricity connections for the quarter were down 7.0% compared to the same period in 2024, reflecting a slowdown in new customer additions.

In contrast, Vector's gas distribution network experienced a slight decrease of 0.1% in total connections, with new gas connections plummeting by 47.2% in the quarter. This resulted in a net reduction of 156 gas customers. Gas distribution volume also fell by 2.7% to 3.6 PJ, due to lower demand across residential, industrial, and commercial sectors.

SAIDI minutes for normal operations (unplanned) for the six months ended September 30, 2025, increased by 24.2%, impacted by Cyclone Tam. Despite this, SAIDI minutes for normal operations (planned) decreased by 7.7%, indicating a focus on preventive maintenance and vegetation management. SAIDI results are preliminary and subject to audit.
