Infratil lifts stake in Contact Energy to over 14%

Infratil Limited, along with Infratil Investments Limited, has increased its substantial holding in Contact Energy Limited, now owning 14.299% of the ordinary shares. This represents an increase from their previous holding of 9.467%. The total number of shares held by Infratil and Infratil Investments now stands at 142,179,759.

The change resulted from an unconditional agreement on October 20, 2025, where Infratil agreed to acquire 48,901,363 ordinary shares in Contact Energy from TECT Holdings Limited. The acquisition involved a cash payment of NZ$218,833,605.74 and the issuance of 17,605,277 new Infratil ordinary shares at NZ$12.43 per share. Completion of this transaction is set for October 22, 2025.

Following the transfer, Infratil Investments will be the registered holder of the newly acquired shares, alongside its existing 93,278,396 shares in Contact Energy. Infratil maintains a relevant interest due to its relationship as a parent company to Infratil Investments and its control over voting products.
