Auckland Airport, Queenstown see strong September 2025 passenger growth

Auckland Airport's September 2025 traffic update shows a 3% increase in total international passenger movements compared to 2024, reaching 830,000. Excluding transits, international passenger movements grew by 5%. International seat capacity rose 3%, maintaining average load factors at 84%, a slight 0.4 percentage point decline. Domestic passenger movements surged 7% with a 4% increase in seat capacity, boosting load factors by 2.2 percentage points to 86%. Overall, total passengers for the month at Auckland Airport were 1,550,011, a 5% increase.

For the financial year to date, Auckland Airport recorded 2,445,710 total international passengers, a 0% change, while total domestic passengers increased 4% to 2,123,892. The rolling 12-month total for international passengers reached 10,313,690, up 2%, and domestic passengers totaled 8,517,874, up 1%. Total aircraft movements for the month increased by 3% to 12,785, with international movements up 4% and domestic up 2%.

Queenstown Airport also experienced strong growth in September 2025, with international passenger numbers rising 8% to 91,532 and domestic passengers increasing 12% to 140,720. This resulted in a 10% overall increase in total passengers for the month, reaching 232,252.
