Spark announces leadership team realignments for FY30 strategy

Spark New Zealand is restructuring its leadership team to focus on core connectivity and differentiate its services. Mark Beder is appointed chief commercial officer, overseeing mobile growth and customer experience. Greg Clark expands his role to chief customer officer, encompassing marketing, sales, and customer service across all segments.

A new chief operating officer role will lead network performance and business technology. Current network and operations director, Renee Mateparae, will depart at the end of 2025. Matt Bain becomes chief technology and AI officer, and Leela Ashford assumes the role of chief brand and corporate affairs officer.

Furthermore, the general counsel and commercial director and strategy and regulatory director roles are combined into a single chief strategy, legal, and regulatory officer position. Melissa Anastasiou will leave Spark at the end of 2025, with John Wesley-Smith taking on the combined role. Stewart Taylor (cfo) and Heather Langton (cpo) retain their current positions.
