Air New Zealand aims for 25% emissions cut by 2030

** Air New Zealand expects to slash its net greenhouse gas emissions by 20 to 25 percent by 2030, relative to a 2019 baseline, according to its updated Emissions Guidance released today. The airline's strategy hinges on several key factors, including achieving a 10 percent sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) usage target by 2030, relying on global SAF supply scaling and reasonable pricing, implementing operational improvements, and utilizing carbon credits through the CORSIA framework. The company also plans to utilize approximately 11,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) in carbon removal credits to address residual emissions in 2030. The airline emphasizes that these goals are based on current expectations and face uncertainty due to rapidly evolving technology, policy, and market conditions. Air New Zealand will provide annual updates to its Emissions Guidance as part of its Climate Statement.
