Mercury NZ appoints Catherine Thompson as chief sustainability officer

Mercury NZ Limited (NZX:MCY) has appointed Catherine Thompson as its new Chief Sustainability Officer, effective July 28, 2025. Thompson brings over 30 years of experience in the energy and legal sectors, including roles at major New Zealand energy providers such as Contact Energy and Manawa Energy. She possesses expertise in corporate affairs, sustainability, consenting, strategy, and risk management. According to Chief Executive Stew Hamilton, this appointment underscores the company's commitment to leading New Zealand's electrification journey. Current Chief Sustainability Officer, Lucie Drummond, will stay on until June 2025 to support the transition.
