Auckland airport traffic dips in March 2025, impacted by reduced capacity

Auckland International Airport (NZX:AIA) experienced a decline in passenger traffic during March 2025, with total passenger numbers falling by 3% to 1,626,132. International passenger movements saw a 4% decrease, totaling 860,443, while domestic passenger numbers also declined by 3% to 765,689. International seat capacity was reduced by 4%, with 49,000 fewer seats available, primarily affecting USA routes due to Air New Zealand's service suspensions and United Airlines' exit from the Los Angeles route. Trans-Tasman capacity also saw a reduction of 6%. Queenstown Airport's total passenger numbers decreased by 2% to 223,576. Aircraft movements at Auckland Airport decreased by 1% to 13,939, reflecting similar trends in both international and domestic sectors.
