Steel Strips Wheels expands capacity with new Gujarat plants

Steel Strips Wheels Limited (SSWL) has announced a major expansion of its manufacturing capacity in Gujarat for alloy wheels and aluminum steering knuckles. The company's board of directors, at a meeting on December 26, 2025, approved a lease agreement and the establishment of new production units.

SSWL will lease approximately 288,793.19 sq. mt. of land from its wholly-owned subsidiary, AMW Autocomponent Limited (AACL), for an initial period of 11 months, extendable as required. This land, located in Bhuj, Gujarat, will house the new manufacturing units aimed at meeting increasing operational requirements and demand. The monthly lease rent is INR 45,00,000.

The expansion includes new alloy wheel and aluminum steering knuckle manufacturing units. The alloy wheel unit will have an estimated production capacity of 1.2 million units per annum with an estimated capital expenditure of INR 300 crores. The aluminum steering knuckle unit will have an estimated production capacity of 0.6 million units per annum, with an estimated capital expenditure of INR 120 crores. Both capacities are projected to be added during Q4 of FY 2026-27, subject to necessary approvals, and will be financed through debt, internal accruals, or a combination thereof.
