Akzo Nobel India resolves GST dispute, demand dropped

Akzo Nobel India Limited received an order from the Gujarat GST Department on December 26, 2025, confirming the complete dropping of a tax demand. The litigation originated from a show cause notice issued on June 27, 2025, concerning the period April 2018 to March 2019. The dispute involved the issuance of a duplicate E-way Bill against the same invoice under Section 74 of the CGST/SGST Act, 2017.

The initial demand amounted to Rs. 436,279/-, comprising tax, applicable interest, and penalty. Following the company's response with supporting documents, the superintendent, Ahmedabad, Gujarat GST Department, reviewed the case and issued an order dated December 23, 2025, which Akzo Nobel India received on December 26, 2025.

According to the order, the entire tax demand, including interest and penalty, has been nullified. This resolution updates the pending litigation previously disclosed on June 28, 2025, under SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
