SAIL appoints Priya Ranjan as Bokaro steel plant director

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced the appointment of Priya Ranjan as director-in-charge of its Bokaro Steel Plant, effective December 24, 2025. This appointment follows a nomination from the Government of India via a Ministry of Steel order dated December 23, 2025, and subsequent approval by SAIL's board of directors. The company affirmed that Ranjan is not debarred from holding a director's office by any SEBI order or other authority.

Ranjan brings over three decades of experience in the steel industry to his new role. An alumnus of BIT Sindri with a B.E. in metallurgy and IMT Ghaziabad with a post graduate diploma in management (finance), he previously served as executive director (works) at Bokaro Steel Plant. His career at SAIL, which began in 1994, includes various senior positions in technical operations, production planning, corporate strategy, and as ED (operations) at the corporate office, New Delhi, with additional charge of head of directorate of mines and logistics.

Ranjan's contributions to SAIL encompass steelmaking processes, plant operations, and organizational efficiency. His work has included process efficiency improvements, coal blend optimization, raw material security planning, and enhancing mines' performance. He has also been instrumental in organizing SAIL's annual business plan and has been associated with successive chairman & managing directors during his 7-year stint at the chairman & managing director's office.
