Adani Wilmar penalized for input tax credit disallowance

Adani Wilmar Limited has received an order imposing a penalty of INR 80,58,956. The penalty was levied under section 74 of the Central Goods and Service Tax Act, 2017 and the Gujarat Goods & Service Tax Act, 2017.

The penalty stems from the disallowance of input tax credit under section 16 of the CGST/GGST Act, related to the retrospective cancellation of supplier registrations. The order, dated December 24, 2025, was received by the company on the same day.

Adani Wilmar stated that it is taking appropriate steps to appeal the penalty order before the relevant authority. The company does not foresee any material impact on its financial, operational, or other activities as a result of this penalty.
