Bharti Hexacom faces penalty over subscriber verification rule violations

Bharti Hexacom Limited announced on December 22, 2025, that it has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications, North East LSA ("DoT"), imposing a penalty of INR 2,92,000. This penalty is for alleged violations of subscriber verification norms, identified during a Sample Customer Application Form Audit conducted by the DoT for the Quarter ending June 2025.

The DoT's communication indicates that Bharti Hexacom is required to ensure adequate verification of customers as per its License Agreement and comply with DoT instructions. The company stated that the maximum financial impact of this order is limited to the penalty levied.

Bharti Hexacom clarified that the penalty amount disclosed in the notice is at a higher rate and is currently under sub-judice review before the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT).
