Varun Beverages to acquire South African beverage company Twizza

Varun Beverages Limited's board of directors approved the acquisition of 100% share capital of Twizza Proprietary Limited, a South African non-alcoholic beverage manufacturer, for an enterprise value of ZAR 2,095 million.

The acquisition will be executed through Varun Beverages' South African subsidiary, The Beverages Company Proprietary Limited (Bevco), and is subject to regulatory approvals from competition commissions in South Africa, Botswana, and Eswatini.

This strategic acquisition aims to deepen Bevco's penetration in the South African market, leveraging Twizza's three manufacturing facilities in Cape Town, Queenstown, and Middelburg, which include backward integration facilities for preforms and closures. The transaction is expected to be completed on or before June 30, 2026.

Twizza, incorporated in 2003, generated a turnover of ZAR 1,689 million for the financial year ended June 30, 2025, with sales volumes of approximately 71 million 8oz cases. Its turnover for FY 2023-24 was ZAR 1,641 million, and for FY 2022-23, it was ZAR 1,551 million.
