RBI appoints new additional director to Tamilnad Mercantile Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Thiru. Visvanathan Srinivasan as an additional director to Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited. The appointment, effective from December 20, 2025, is for a period of two years, until December 19, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Srinivasan, currently a general manager in the Department of Payment and Settlement System at RBI Chennai, replaces Thiru. Thomas Mathew, principal chief general manager (retd.).

Srinivasan brings 36 years of experience from the Reserve Bank of India. He is a graduate in mathematics and holds a postgraduate degree in business administration, along with certifications from the Indian Institute of Bankers and a PG Diploma in Software Technology. He will serve on the bank's Audit Committee, Special Committee for Monitoring and Follow-up of Cases of Frauds, and the NPA Monitoring Committee. Tamilnad Mercantile Bank confirmed that Srinivasan has no relationship with existing directors or key managerial personnel.
