Voltas faces GST demands in three Indian states

Voltas Limited announced on December 18, 2025, that it has received three separate orders from GST authorities across India. The assistant commissioner, state tax, Cuttack I, Odisha, demanded ₹1.37 crore in tax, ₹0.90 crore in interest, and a penalty of ₹0.14 crore, citing understatement of liability and ineligible/excess input tax credit (ITC).

Similarly, the assistant commissioner, state tax, Ropar, Punjab, issued an order for ₹1.46 crore in tax, ₹1.14 crore in interest, and a penalty of ₹0.15 crore, also for alleged short payment of liability and ineligible ITC. In Telangana, the assistant commissioner, central tax, Ameerpet, demanded ₹1.51 crore in tax with applicable interest and a penalty of ₹0.15 crore for similar reasons.

Voltas plans to file appeals against all three orders. Despite the demands totaling approximately ₹4.34 crore in tax, ₹2.99 crore in interest, and ₹0.44 crore in penalties, the company stated that there is no material impact on its financials, operations, or other activities.
