Vodafone Idea challenges ₹40 lakh tax demand

Vodafone Idea Limited announced on December 16, 2025, that it has received an order from the joint commissioner, state tax, Jaipur II, demanding a penalty of ₹40,09,461 along with applicable demand and interest. The order, issued under Section 74 of the CGST/RGST Act, 2017, pertains to an alleged Input Tax Credit claim from suppliers whose registrations were cancelled ab-initio for the financial year 2018-19.

The company stated that the maximum financial impact of this order is limited to the extent of the tax demand, interest, and penalty levied. Vodafone Idea Limited explicitly stated that it does not agree with the order and plans to take appropriate actions for its rectification or reversal. The disclosure was made in compliance with Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
