ITC appoints Amitabh Kant as independent director, re-appoints Hemant Malik

ITC Limited has announced the appointment of Amitabh Kant as an independent director for a period of five years, effective January 1, 2026. Kant, aged 69, is a retired IAS officer with extensive administrative experience and a strong background in governance reform and public policy. He previously served as G20 sherpa to the Prime Minister of India and as chief executive officer of NITI Aayog. Kant currently sits on the boards of HCL Technologies Limited, Larsen & Toubro Limited, and InterGlobe Aviation Limited, among others.

Additionally, the company has re-appointed Hemant Malik, aged 59, as a wholetime director for a two-year term, effective August 12, 2026. Malik is currently the divisional chief executive of the foods business division and also oversees the personal care products business. He has over 35 years of experience across various ITC businesses, including his prior role as divisional chief executive of the India Tobacco Division. Malik also serves as chairman of the Food Processing Committee of FICCI and is a member of the Board of Governors of The Advertising Standards Council of India.

Both appointments were approved by the members of the company via a postal ballot. The company confirmed that neither director has been debarred from holding office by SEBI or any other authority.
