Wheels India partners Topy Industries, boosts aluminium wheel capacity

Wheels India has signed a technical assistance agreement with Topy Industries, a Japanese wheel manufacturer, for the design, development, and manufacture of aluminium alloy wheels. This collaboration aims to enhance Wheels India's capabilities in the cast aluminium wheel business and target Japanese OEMs in India, bringing considerable technical expertise and new business opportunities.

In line with this growth, Wheels India is expanding its alloy wheels plant capacity at Thervoi Kandigai. The annual capacity is being increased from 5 lakh wheels to 7 lakh wheels per annum, with completion expected by the end of the next quarter. The company plans to further expand capacity to 10 lakh wheels per annum by the end of fiscal year 2027, driven by positive prospects in the aluminium wheels segment.

Wheels India has already secured new orders for its aluminium wheels from Hyundai and Volkswagen, with supplies commencing next year. The company, which entered the alloy wheel business in fiscal year 2021, currently supplies to Indian OEMs such as Tata Motors and Stellantis, alongside its existing export markets in the US and Europe.
