IndiGo appoints aviation expert to review operational disruptions

InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) has announced the appointment of Chief Aviation Advisors LLC, led by captain John Illson, a veteran aviation expert, to conduct an independent review and assessment of recent operational disruptions. This decision, approved by the board on December 12, 2025, follows a recommendation from the crisis management group constituted by IndiGo's board.

Captain Illson brings over four decades of aviation experience, including with the FAA, ICAO, IATA, and major global carriers, offering expertise in global aviation strategy, safety leadership, and new aircraft technologies. The objective of this engagement is to perform an independent root cause analysis of the operational disruption and identify opportunities for improvement.

The review is scheduled to commence at the earliest, with captain Illson submitting a comprehensive report to the board upon completion. This initiative aims to enhance the company's operational performance and address contributing factors to the recent issues.
