Cyient Semiconductors qualifies for key semi-conductor laboratory revamp

Cyient Semiconductors announced on December 5, 2025, that it has qualified for a key contract in the INR 4,500-crore modernization of the Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL) in Mohali. This involves supplying and qualifying technology IPs, including design enablement, to enhance India's custom silicon capabilities. This initiative supports the India Semiconductor Mission, aiming to expand domestic semiconductor capacity and reduce import reliance.

Under the mandate, Cyient Semiconductors will provide and qualify three foundational process technologies: RF-CMOS, BCD (HV LDMOS), and CMOS Image Sensor (CIS), for SCL's upgraded 8-inch manufacturing line. These technologies are crucial for industrial, automotive, energy, sensing, and connectivity applications, strengthening India's mature-node semiconductor relevance.

Krishna Bodanapu, executive vice-chairman and managing director of Cyient Limited, highlighted this as a validation of Cyient Semiconductors’ engineering depth and execution capabilities. Suman Narayan, chief executive officer of Cyient Semiconductors, emphasized the national mission aspect, stating their deep strength in these technology areas enables them to contribute to strengthening India's semiconductor ecosystem.
