Alkem Laboratories to appeal ₹27 lakh GST demand, penalty

Alkem Laboratories Ltd. announced on December 4, 2025, that it has received an order from the Assistant Commissioner, Central Goods & Service Tax Division, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The order pertains to the financial years 2018-2019 to 2022-2023 and demands a Goods and Services Tax (GST) of INR 27,14,603/-, along with a penalty of INR 27,79,266/- and applicable interest under the CGST/ SGST/ IGST Act, 2017.

The primary allegation in the demand order is the excess availment of Input Tax Credit (ITC). Alkem Laboratories stated that it disagrees with the demand order and intends to contest it. The company is in the process of taking appropriate actions, including filing an appeal against the order.
