Alkem Laboratories to challenge GST demand over input tax credit

Alkem Laboratories Limited announced on December 4, 2025, that it has received a demand order from the assistant commissioner, Central Goods & Service Tax Division, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The order, which pertains to the period from F.Y.2018-2019 to 2022-2023, demands GST of INR 27,14,603/- along with a penalty of INR 27,79,266/- and applicable interest under the CGST/ SGST/ IGST Act, 2017. The core allegation in the order is the excess availment of Input Tax Credit (ITC).

The company clarified that it does not agree with the demand order and intends to contest it. Alkem Laboratories is in the process of taking appropriate action, including filing an appeal against the order. The disclosure was made in compliance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

Alkem Laboratories stated that there is no material impact on the financial, operational, or other activities of the listed entity as a result of this demand order.
