Nestle India faces ₹8.28 crore tax demand, plans to challenge order

Nestle India Limited announced on December 2, 2025, the receipt of an order from the Office of the Commissioner of GST and Central Excise, Chennai – Outer Commissionerate. The order, passed under Section 74 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, pertains to the tax period 2018-23.

The order confirms a demand for tax, interest, and penalty. Specifically, it includes a tax amount of ₹8,28,36,108, applicable interest thereon, and a penalty of ₹8,28,36,108. The company received this direction on December 1, 2025.

Nestle India stated there is no material impact on its financials, operations, or other activities due to this order. The company plans to explore various options to challenge the mentioned order.
