Maruti Suzuki aims for 100,000 EV charging points by 2030
Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced a significant expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) charging ecosystem, aiming to establish 100,000 public charging points across India by 2030. The company has signed collaboration agreements with 13 Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and aggregators to provide seamless charging experiences through a unified digital platform. This initiative includes 2,000 exclusive Maruti Suzuki charging points within its nationwide dealer network across over 1,100 cities.
The new "e for me" mobile app will facilitate end-to-end usage of EV charging points, offering a uniform customer journey for charging and payment via UPI or "Maruti Suzuki Money" powered by Razorpay. The app will also manage home-charger setup, locate public charging points, and allow remote control of smart home chargers.
To demonstrate its network readiness, Maruti Suzuki flagged off four e VITARA Born EVs on a pan-India "e drive," covering extreme temperatures from -30°C to 60°C and delivering a consistent driving range of 543 kilometers. The company has also made its showroom network and over 1,500 service workshops EV-ready, supported by a 1.5 lakh-strong trained workforce.
