InterGlobe Aviation to contest INR 1.17bn tax demand

InterGlobe Aviation Limited has received a demand order from the Joint Commissioner of Central Tax and Central Excise, Kochi Commissionerate, for a penalty of INR 117,52,86,402. The penalty is related to the denial of input tax credit (ITC) availed by the company for the financial years 2018-19 to 2021-22. The communication regarding this order was received by the company on December 1, 2025.

The company believes the order is erroneous and intends to contest it before the appropriate authority. InterGlobe Aviation asserts it has a strong case on merits, supported by advice from external tax advisors.

Despite the significant demand, InterGlobe Aviation states that the penalty will not have a significant impact on its financials, operations, or other activities. Neerja Sharma, company secretary and chief compliance officer, signed the disclosure dated December 2, 2025.
