Vodafone Idea faces penalty for alleged GST credit violation

Vodafone Idea Limited announced on December 1, 2025, that it has received an order from the assistant commissioner of state tax, Ahmedabad. The order, issued under Section 74 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, confirms a penalty of INR 12,72,899, along with demand and applicable interest. The alleged violation relates to Input Tax Credit claimed during the financial year 2018-19.

The company stated that the maximum financial impact is limited to the tax demand, interest, and penalty levied. Vodafone Idea does not agree with the order and plans to take appropriate actions for its rectification or reversal. The disclosure was made pursuant to Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
